A study by University of Otago have found out that to lose weight, that non-dieting interventions are the best way to go about it. The two year study focus on non-dieting interventions such as improving lifestyle behaviours and reducing psychological distress and medical symptoms. Some 225 women was tested. All of them having BMI of 28 or more were randomly given 1 of the 3 intervention programmes available. For ten weeks, the women were given a task as required in the intervention. The results was astonishing. These women who once diet without results saw no weight gain over the two year period study. In whole the women who participated has an average reduction of 2.5kg weight by the end of the study. Want to know of the specifics of the intervention. Well teaching the body to relax is one of them. Reducing stress and control the negative emotions to a low level is another. It may sound touche-feeling, but such bad emotions can lead a person to binge and over-eat to compensate for their bad emotional state. The researchers recommend people to learn breathing techniques to relax, visualization of positive things and muscle relaxation. It is these lifestyle changes that will help and aid in your weight loss, rather than using traditional dieting approaches which has been proven to have limited long-term success.
