Cancer is one of Singapore’s Top 10 cause of death.
Anyone and everyone should do their part to prevent cancer, but we all know we human are comfort creatures.
Well wake-up and smell the roses people, if you want to be healthy, you got to ‘earn it’.
Here’s a few tips:
- Eat a balanced diet. You can reduced the risk of colon and prostate cancers by eating lesser of red meat. Consume more fish as it has nutritional components to protect your heart. Also increase your fiber intake as I find many people are ignoring this lesser known fact that it could reduce your chances of colon cancer.
- Avoid smoking and tobacco. Simple as that. Lung cancer anyone. Even secondhand smoke is deadly by the way.
- Don’t stay too long under the sun and if you do, please wear a sunblock which reduces the risk of melanomas and other skin cancers.
- Do your workouts. A regular exercise complements a balanced diet. You need such active activities to get you fit and protect the body. When one is strong, you can prevent and reduce the risk of colon, prostate and breast cancer. It’s well known if you’re obese, you increases the risk of many forms of cancer.
- It is said vitamin D can reduce the risk of prostate and colon cancer. Get around 1,000 IU daily.
- For the drinkers, did you know that liquor can increases the risk of cancers of the food pipe, mouth, voice box, colon and liver cancer. So in moderation now.
