![]() Advertorial Carpe Diem ~ Seize The Day Well that’s my outlook on life. It might sounds corny for some, but you could say it has done wonders for me physically, academics or otherwise. Since this a fitness blog, what better way to seize the day than challenging yourself. I’ve gotten to come across a global event that might just be of interest to you. The Nike+ Human Race
Well basically the Nike+ Human Race consists of a 10km run. By combining the virtual running world with the physical, the Nike+ Human Race is open to anyone, anywhere. Yes the keyword here is global. Since last year flag-off it was a resounding success with a staggering one million runners participating. And this race is a series that is held in 24 cities spanning North America, Europe, South America, Oceania, South America, and while for Asia, Singapore is lucky to be among the chosen Asian city. And you should really be part of that, as aside from the personal challenge, you’re also raising funds for charity, which includes The UN Refugee Agency, Lance Armstrong Foundation and The WWF. The Day the World Runs
The race is of physical and virtual event. Even though the registration for the physical race is over, you can still participate in the virtual race. I personally think this is a great race to know where you stand physically. Be it for beginners or hardcore sportsman. I mean once knowing where your standard is, you can move on from there and develop training plan to get faster, better and stronger. How to join the run
Although the registration is over for the physical run, you can still join the run as the race is a virtual event too.
Guys vs. Girls challenge
I was reading the Singapore leg of the Nike+ Human Race and its interesting enough we have the Guys vs. Girls challenge. Come on now people, as a dude I’ll be biased enough to support the guys right. Well the challenge is pretty simple; the gender that clocks the most mileage during the 12th Sep to 24th Oct period syncing with your Nike+ gear wins. I don’t want to sound cocky, but hands down we guys would win right? Well right about now I won’t blame some feminist out there who might want to stuff my mouth as of now eh, *chuckled*. Well the challenge is still open and the bragging rights still not a concluded. To join in the challenge, just:
The Nike+ Gear
The Nike+ concept is pretty innovation. The Sports Kit pairs an Apple iPod with a special transmitter. When you have completed your run, connected your iPod to your computer and upload your data to iTunes to store the running logs or sync to Nikeplus.com, which can track your progress over time and lets you create a running plan. The gear in my opinion will give new runners more assurance, and for the more experienced runners, it provides them plenty of motivation with the Nike+ gear. Running and enjoying your tunes is an unbeatable combination to get a natural high, plus at a press of a button, receive audio feedback of your run. The Nike+ Experience![]() My Nike HRM watch. Circa 2003 In fact over the years I believe sport and religion have become intertwined and interchangeable. Yes sports have become a religion of sorts. Remember the running boom which started with Nike? Well the fitness culture wasn’t the same after that! If you want the best then get Nike. Well talking about Nike+ gear, I’m totally blown away by the variety of new products that is rolling out of the Nike factory. Nike stuff in my recommendation is the choice if you want to be the talking point of your running group. It’s branding is just superb and recognized globally. Recalling my own experience, once I bought this $300 plus Nike heart rate monitor few years back. It was just a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I doubled it sometimes as my formal outing watch. I really did! I just need to put in on my wrist, and people would just compliment it. You can really score some brownie points with the sporty chicks with this man. The bottomline, if you want a lifestyle change that’s fun, exciting, then turn to Nike. It has become a sort of a following globally. I’m one of the convert and wouldn’t want to do it any other way. And yes I also do recommend the Nike+ product range which will aid in your quest. For the Nike+ Human Race 2009, run your 10km anytime during the day then sync your run with your Nike+ gear. When combined with yours and other Nike+ Human Race joggers running stats all over the world, it all adds up to a good global cause. Participants who sign up for the virtual race will need to use a Nike+ Sport Kit or Nike+ SportBand to clock their runs and log in their miles on the www.nikeplus.com.sg. So keep the challenge going peeps! You can of course sign up for Nike+ Human Race and finding more details on the cool Nike+ gears at the following website nikerunning.com.sg
