Sylvester Stallone turns to Indian medicine “Ayurveda” |

A 63 year old Sylvester Stallone
I don’t know about you, but I personally think Sylvester Stallone is cool.
I’ve all his movies and he is one of my favorite on-screen action-thriller actors.
He looks great for a 63 year old, and it seems the years of ‘pounding’ from his career has resulted in many on-set injuries.
In particular a persisting knee problem.
So on a recent movie role, he was recommended by his Indian co-star Akshay Kumar.
The popular Bollywood actor advises him to try Indian mysticism “ayurveda”.
You would probably be asking … ayu what?
I’ve never heard of it myself, but it seems it is an ancient system of medicine from India.
Does it work?
Well the belief behind this ayurveda is that disease and injuries persist as there’s imbalance of three bodily humours.
The balanced can be regained by changing a person’s diet, thoughts and habits.
Well that sure sounds like an advice from a personal trainer.
Here’s more info on ayurveda that I uncovered:
- A system of traditional medicine native to India.
- In Sanskrit, the word Ayurveda comprises the words a-yus, meaning ‘life’ and veda, meaning ’science’.
- Ayurveda is considered to be a form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) within the western world, where several of its methods such as herbs, massage, and Yoga as exercise or alternative medicine are applied on their own as a form of CAM treatment.
- It is believed that building a healthy metabolic system, attaining good digestion, and proper excretion leads to vitality.
- Ayurveda also focuses on exercise, yoga, meditation, and massage.
- Thus, body, mind, and spirit/consciousness need to be addressed both individually and in unison for health to ensue.
- A review of Ayurveda and cardiovascular disease concluded that while the herbal evidence is not yet convincing, the spices are appropriate, some herbs are promising, and yoga is also a promising complementary treatment.
