The World Bank says nearly a billion people around the world live on a dollar a day, or even less; while average American eats $7 worth of food per day. And economists, health researchers and consumers are struggling to find out if eating healthily is possible and a viable option, considering they say healthy food are more expensive and the cost of living rising. I beg to differ. I truly endorse eating healthily and it doesn’t cost that much actually. For me I eat at least 5 small meals per day and my average monthly grocery bills are around SG$100 per month. There was even some months where I really budgeted and reduced it to SG$70! That number if converted to US dollar translate to around $2.1 US Dollar per day. How do I know the figures, well I take note of my daily expenses in detailed. Using a simple Excel spreadsheet, I add the things I bought to the document file. I now have seven months worth of purchased food items list. So I don’t believe such crap when people says eating healthily will burn a hole in your pocket. You just need to know where to buy the items, buy it in bulk, do your research on food that is healthily yet palatable. It’s as simple as that!
