Enduring Lactic Acid |

My type of training exposes me to frequent lactic acid types of exercises. I’m a runner, so there’s no running away from it. No pun intended of course :p
Over the years I’ve tried my best to develop a mental block of it and so far its doing alright. I can withhold the threshold intensity during training or competition better than others, as my threshold to withstand lactic acid has increased.
What is lactic acid you might ask?
Well its a waste by product produced when you’re doing something strenuous. It jolts your body and urges your mind to stop what you’re doing as the pain receptors are telling you its painful to continue
But I believe pain is a state of mind. Sound corny and cliche but its true. I think the elite professional athlete should know this best
Yes the metabolic waste product is still in the body, but you can use your mind to run, jump or whatever you’re doing longer and harder if you’ve honed your mental blocking skills
Usually I would just keep telling myself to keep on going. I guess you’ve to be partially crazy like me to do this. I like to push my boundaries even with muscle fatigue, reduced performance and pain
People keep telling me why ‘torture’ myself and that only crazy people would do such a thing. I won’t respond but I would just look a look at my detractor, in my heart I would say I’ve got a better ass than you pal, that’s why
But still know your physical limits, I won’t be responsible for anything. You should know your body best
