A University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center study suggests that grapes are the answer to prevent high blood pressure and heart diseases.
- The effect is due to the high level of phytochemicals naturally occurring antioxidants in grapes.
- The 18 weeks study was performed in laboratory rats.
- Regular table grapes were mixed into the rat diet in a powdered form vs rats fed salty diet.
- All the rats develops high blood pressure when fed a salty diet.
- Rats that received the grape diet powder had lower blood pressure, better heart function, reduced inflammation and fewer signs of heart muscle damage.
- Researcher says grapes has a direct impact on cardiovascular risk.
- Researcher also added the downhill sequence to hypertension and heart failure can be changed by the addition of grape powder to a high-salt diet.
My Advice: For those who wants to lower their blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart failure, do cut down on the amount of salt you get through your food and drink on a daily basis.
