Ok you’ve decided to join one of those diet programs on offer. Since I can’t stop you on such scamming programs, why not be realistic about it. Do your research. Well here’s a few of my own tips.
Low or No Carb Diet
When you deprive your body of none or low carbs, the side-effects are, you’ll be feeling nauseous, sluggish and having a not so great appetite. The body responds by going into a ketosis metabolic state and starts burning fat. But not so fast, this is not good news as when you’re in this state, your body is depending on your ‘reserves’. If such state is prolonged, it can cause failed organs. Remember you must have at least 100 grams of carbohydrates every day.
Low Calorie Diet
If your diet consultant says you need to be eating 1,200 or less calories a day, please walk out. That’s a very low calories for daily consumption. Yes you may burn more doing your normal activities, and with such low calorie diet, the numbers make sense, but over time it will lead to constipation, fatigue and deficiency in nutrients and energy. You need a balance of fat, complex carbs and fat. You just can’t cut if off completely.
High Protein Diet
Please don’t be stupid and follow advices that tells you to eat a high protein diet as much as 40-50% of daily total calories. It is just absurb! As you know, a little too much of anything is not good right. At that high percentage of protein consumption daily, your kidneys are taking a ‘beating’. They’re not made to sustain and process that much protein. You might not notice it, but over time, your kidney will fail, oh trust me it will.
