![]() Hi there readers, welcome.
Most of you probably came to this blog entry via SingaporeSports.sg website for the “Star Sports Blogger” online contest. Well actually I contemplated not entering the contest; in fact I submitted this entry on the very last day of the deadline. What changed my mind?Well I thought perhaps my story might inspire some soul out there in taking up sports for a better QUALITY of life. Let’s start then eh with my story, on why I’m undoubtedly SingaporeSports.sg “Star Sports Blogger”. My name is Sha, and is currently 31 years old going on 32, and ever since entering the work force back in 2007 after finishing the rigors of school, life present me with a new challenge. That is to balance my passion for sports, while at the same time finding time for relationship, family, friends, and earning a living. ![]() Hill sprints training – Works on my acceleration Of course I didn’t succeed at first; I failed miserably for two years trying to juggle everything. My downfall it seems is that my priorities has changed. As with everyone when they started work, things such as promotion, bonuses, overtime, deadlines and office politics became more important, while my passion and health takes a backseat. ![]() Box jump training (97cm high) – Works on my plyometrics The turning point was during my 30th birthday as I recap my life. Ever since I started work, I’ve put on weight, became more stressed, and am always depressed. That was the last straw, and I decided to get my act together. I’m a survivor, for I’ve survived from drownings, accidents, to serious sports-related injuries, and this new challenge to me is just another hurdle in my life that I know I can overcome. ![]() Fast stepping staircase training – Works on my speedwork and running mechanics I believe in “walking the talk”, always seeking a challenge to pursue and find the meaning of life. Well fast forward since my 30th birthday, wanting drastic improvement means doing drastic changes in my life. So I took the plunge, changed my job which allows me to pursue my passion, and have since blogged all of my workouts, failed attempt, the pain, to success at this website, www.shafatloss.com. As of today, much happier and fitter of course, I’m into my 242nd day of training. Why the online training logs? Well I’m the type that follow-through my training much better if I put it in writing. ![]() Pure speed training – Works on my Anaerobic Alactic (Phosphagen) My goal for 2010 is to participate in a local athletics competition coming soon, and achieve a respectable timing. My local sports participation goal for 2010:
So far I’ve put myself through the toughest training ever since my varsity athletics days. I’ve jumped, I’ve sprinted, I’ve lifted, I’ve pulled, I’ve swam, I’ve put myself on a 4,000 calories health binge. Well I’ve practically did anything and everything that will get me closer to attain that built of a Greek God such as sprinter Linford Christie and Blade movie star Ryan Reynolds. ![]() Hurdle Drills – Doing some hurdles, bounding, knee leg and straight led drives Furthermore training when you’re over 30 years old is no joke as there’s no room for error. You recovery system is far less effective, and you’re more prone to injuries, but comes with age is the experience. I’ve learned to train smartly, and effectively. To execute my workout program spot-on, focusing on form, going for a quality session always. Aside from the physical aspect, I also put myself through the paces of psychological training, from exposing myself to motivational tapes and reading up on the latest notes and development on training. I also took care of my diet by preparing my own meal. No it’s not about skipping meals, but pursuing a healthy but tasty balanced meal. With that I’ve since dropped my bodyfat percentage to 4-5 per cent, the lowest ever I’ve achieved so far. ![]() Sled pulling – Works on my strength endurance and explosiveness So there you go, that’s my life story … if a once stressed, depressed, and overweight workaholic 30-year-old is able to turn his life around, so can you! By doing so, you’re actually heeding the government latest project of increased productivity and making babies right, as putting your health in order is moving in that right step. As they say, “You can’t buy health, you’ve to got earn it”.
It doesn’t stop here for me of course, even after achieving my goal, operating with a renewed vigor, the sky is the limit for me. Now that I’ve helped myself, I want to inspire and help people to change their life for the better, so with respect do bestow me SingaporeSports.sg “Star Sports Blogger” title, thank you.
