Most patients who have undergone weight loss surgery usually loses lean body mass and skeletal muscle mass. But a recent publication in ‘The Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (JCEM)’ have shown that by using growth hormone treatment for six months after the surgery will counter that losses. It is well known that growth hormones increases muscle mass and reduces fat mass, so such post-surgery complications that are associated with rapid and sustained weight loss will be a thing of the past. But it is also noted with the growth hormones supplementation, there should be a standardised program of low calorie diet and physical exercise too.
