Recent publication in the journal Nature Medicine mentioned that a certain “fat controller” in the gut is the key to prevent heart disease, obesity and diabetes.
Researchers from the University of California at San Francisco found in their studies that MGAT2 enzyme might be the solution for our major health issues.
Currently we humans similar to mice, have three MGAT enzymes and MGAT2 is one of it found in the intestines.
The control study mice with MGAT2 enzyme missing were able to have a high fat diet and still stay healthy and slim.
It is also noted these mice even with MGAT2 missing, they did not develop a glucose intolerance, as well as a “fatty liver” and high cholesterol.
More tests are being carried out on the potential of MGAT which could help with our rising problem of obesity.
