Men are Better at Resisting Food |

A recent study published in the journal ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences’ on brain analysis has found that men are better a resisting food than women.
The study focused on men and women brain’s response to food.
Some 23 participants was tested, 10 men and 13 women. Before the test, the last food they had was some 17 hours previously.
When tempted, men has the ability to ’switch off’ the food thoughts while women are susceptible to temptations.
The temptation ranges from pizza, fried chicken to ice cream. The objective of the participants was to control their cravings and hunger.
It seems that the brain area that deals with appetite or emotion had lesser activity in men than women. The brain scans suggest these cravings has similar addictive substances response to cocaine and alcohol.
That’s the brain portion that deals with such emotion. The researchers says women are naturally programmed to eat food as they notice it, and react positively to foods more often.
This is not surprising that the statistics of women obesity are much more than men. It is also why health and fat loss industry are focusing so much on women as their main customers as they’ll keep on coming back after their failed attempt at dieting and weight management programs.
Unlike women, men are more single-minded and commit themselves totally when entasked. But women are more concerned with the needs of people around them. That is why men has testerone and women estrogen.
Oestrogen works on a level where it either promote weight gain or resist weight loss. Women just have a harder time losing weight.
