Researchers at the University of Yaounde in Cameroon in their study have found properties of the extract from African mango that can help people in weight loss. The West African fruit which is commonly eaten in West Africa and known as Irvingia gabonensis is said to help overweight people lose weight and drop their cholesterol. The study showed that the extracts from the plant’s seed may inhibit body fat production by affecting specific genes and enzymes that regulate metabolism. There were 102 participants in the study who was randomly assigned to take either the plant extract or a placebo twice a day for 10 weeks. Well after the 10 weeks, the group taking the plant extract had a weight loss of an average of approximately 28 pounds. Amazing right. Also the check-up showed their “bad” LDL cholesterol and blood sugar levels declined. As for the placebo control group, they had no change in their weight.
