More people are lowering their bad cholesterol the past decade |

There’s good cholesterol and there’s the bad cholesterol. Of course we want the former right.
Well a latest study published in the American Heart Association’s journal Circulation says number of patients who have lowered their “bad” cholesterol have doubled over the last decade.
Lead researcher for the study was quoted, “Although there is room for improvement, particularly in very high-risk patients, these results indicate that lipid-lowering therapy is being applied much more successfully than it was a decade ago.”
The study done in nine countries found patients controlling and lowering their “bad” cholesterol to the advised level successfully.
These patients had their “bad” cholesterol lowered by varying methods of medical treatment and lifestyle changes.
The numbers found was that these patients low-density lipoprotein levels (LDL) rose from 38 percent to 73 percent.
That’s excellent news as these high-risk patients now stands a chance for a better quality of life in the long-run.
The study advised those who have a bad cholesterol level no higher than 100 mg/dL, should maintain a level lower than 70 mg/dL.
