Peninsula Medical School did a study if home factors such as environment at play or eating habits affects childhood obesity.
Well Professor Terry Wilkin findings shed details that the weight for babies now and 25 years ago during birth are the same.
His findings also noted that obese kid gain fat by the time they’re puberty currently compared to those 25 years ago has increased.
This indicates that the current changing times such as lifestyle has dictated our current global problem of obesity in kids on the rise.
So the call for campaigners to ban junk food and vending machines in schools are justified.
The Professor also suggest that other than diet, factors as not having enough exercise and non-physical activities such as playing too much games and watching television are adding to the pounds of our young kids.
He found that “Before an obese girl reaches school age she will have already gained 90% of her excess weight, and boys will have gained 70% of their excess weight”.
This is nothing new to me, and a wakeup call to all school and parents. Your kids will be as healthy as how you want them to be. Let you the adult be the role-model and lead the way.
