Celiac disease on the rise |

Celiac disease
It seems reports are saying that Celiac disease is on the rise.
Study have shown that it is four times more common in today than it was 50 years ago.
What is Celiac disease?
Well it is autoimmune disorder of the small intestine that occurs in genetically predisposed people of all ages from middle infancy on up.
If you’re having chronic diarrhea, failure to thrive (in children), abdominal discomfort, weight loss, anemia, unexplained infertility, premature osteoporosis, loss of teeth, other health issues, and fatigue, these are just of the symptoms.
But the symptoms above may be absent, and symptoms in other organ systems have been described instead.
Many of such people have no symptoms, but many do have symptoms that are not recognized for what they are
Celiac disease is contracted via reaction to gliadin, a gluten protein found in wheat, which causes inflammatory reaction in the intestine.
This inflammation will interfere with the absorption of nutrients, and the only known effective treatment is a lifelong gluten-free diet.
While the disease is caused by a reaction to wheat proteins, it is not the same as wheat allergy.
Celiac disease now affects about one in 100 people in the U.S.
So if you’re diagnosed with celiac disease, that means its no more wheat and other grains containing gluten from the diet for the rest of your life.
Now that’s sad.
