There’s now more reason for you to lose weight as obese men tends to have poorer quality sperm
University of Aberdeen researchers did a study looking at 2000 men sperm who are having trouble conceiving babies with their spouses
It is noted from the finding that men with the heaviest weight have a higher proportion of abnormal sperm, plus other problems
The study divided men into four groups in terms of BMI (body mass index). Other variable factors that could affect the conceiving are also added into the list such as smoking and alcohol
BMI of 20 to 25 – Higher semen volume and higher levels of normal sperm than those who were heavier
Higher BMI - Lower volumes of seminal fluid, and a higher proportion of abnormal sperm
There was no difference in sperm concentration or activity however in all the groups. Being obese from the study also found out that there is DNA damage in the sperm
