Once again I left home quite late for training due to work. Well its inevitable, but at least I got the conviction to actually do the workout. Well part of it anyway …
Today was slopes training. It’s been a long time since I had done it.
Well for your info, this is a good form of workout during off-season. Not only it works on your VO2 intake but also it strengthens your legs from all that slope running.
I don’t know why, but I have this knack of running well on slopes. Even my former training mates had trouble keeping up. Maybe I’m part Gurkha who are accustomed to running on the slopes eh? Hehehe just kidding :p
Anyway the location for the slope training was further up the stadium. Took me around 12 minutes of jogging time to get there. That was my partial warm-up.
It was a nice secluded area with a gentle slope. Cooling and surrounded by nature, with only a short road that will expose me to slight fumes.
It was a great evening to run, but it lack the lighting and I forgot to put on my insect repellent.
Damn if only any of the two factors was present, I would have ‘rough’ it out for all the six sets, but I stop short at the third set as the visibility was reduced to only a few meters. Yes it was that dark!
Better not compromise for any injury that could be prevented. I opt to stop at the third set and continued by finishing off today’s workout with some conditioning.
It was an easy workout day. It’s the fourth week of Phase 1 on Week 12, which is ‘Active Recovery’ period, so you could say I’m up for a good rest anyway.
But the sad thing is, this is the first time, I stop short of completing a workout in a long time. For the past weeks or so, by hook or by crook, I completed it. Well there’s always a first time eh.
Tomorrow is Cooper’s Test and some long runs hopefully. Well good night.
