Day 228: Speed Endurance (2x255m)

Heya peeps, I’m here again. Well this week has been really tough for me. I know so as I would literally sleep immediately upon closing my eyes during bedtime.

My body feels exhausted, and it feel so like 2007 when I was still running for my varsity and training with my former running mates. I guess that’s a good indicator as I’m ‘punishing’ my body for progress.

Well today I left my place much earlier than usual, as the stadium today will be closed early for some local soccer matches. And you know what, I think I’ll start going to the stadium around this time, as it’s great to finish your workout early.

It was drizzling earlier when I jogged to my training location. I could take the bus, but I felt it won’t be a downpour, and luckily for me it didn’t. Sunny skies in fact came out of the cloud cover by the time I was doing my dynamic warmup in the stadium.

1) Dynamic Warmup

2) Speed Drills

3) 2x255m
Using spikes
Set #1 – 35.4s
Set #2 – 34.8s
Average timing ~ 35.1s
Recovery per set 15 minutes

4) Some Sprints
6x60m flying start
3x at curve
3x at straight

5) Active Recovery

6) Stretching/Massage

On previous similar training, I did 250m with the fastest around 35 seconds, and today the distance is 255m and my fastest was 34.8 seconds. Well that’s an improvement alright.

But still based on that timing, I’m probably a 55-56 seconds 400m runner, haha, yes pathetic. Well I’ve got to start somewhere right, why not from the bottom.

Anyway I felt my run today could be faster than it is. There was a really strong headwind every time I ran. Yes it was really that strong, the kind that will make your running much difficult.

All the way when sprinting today, I was fighting hard to run against the wind, and that took a lot out of me. The thing is my last set is faster than my first, which is weird, and I didn’t feel the lactic too. Well I’ll try better the next time round.
