I’m the type that follow-through my training much better if I put it in writing. I workout because I can, and I love doing so. Do not try to emulate my training program, I bear no responsibility if you do so. I’m no role-model, not your papa, mama, your soulmate, or someone you can look-up to, nor am I’m a national athlete … I am just a NOBODY. So just leave me be. My Tuesday started well today. My body is back into the right groove of waking up at the ideal time of the morning, which is around 7am. I don’t like it if my morning slumber extends beyond 8am, but sometimes my body is just too tired and just need the recovery time, so there’s nothing I can do about that. Looks like I’m recovering well. No more ache or strains that I noticed earlier this morning as I jumped out of bed. Yes I did indeed did that, as I just love to start my morning by seizing the day with a good jump. Today on the agenda will be speed training, and I can’t wait for it in fact, as it will my first foray actually doing specific speed workout on track in years since I retired from sprinting! Plus the stadium in my area will re-opened today, and I get first ‘dibs’ using it!
I had to run some errands, doing some grocery stocking after work. With that, that means I’ll have a shorter nap than usual later on. My power nap in fact was around 25 minutes only, and I wish it would be more, but I had to follow the schedule. The thing about training at Woodlands stadium is that if I want my privacy, I need to complete my training before 4.30pm. As after that, the joggers will start strolling in, plus the local soccer club team will use the field by then. So that means I need to leave my place by 2pm, but I was behind schedule as I had too many things to do today, I left my place around 3pm instead. I ended today’s training around 5.30pm, and as expected there were people around, and the gawking too. Workout of the Day
Upon arriving at the stadium, I was quite excited in fact. I’ve been using the stadium since the 90′s and it’s about time the stadium re-turfed it’s track. It looks much better now, the lanes all visible, no air pocket bubble which ‘disfigured’ the track previously, and while testing the new track, I was surprised it wasn’t bouncy as I would expect of a new re-turfed track.
The training itself, since I’m in my Easy Recovery week cycle, I didn’t push that hard. I just focused on form, and kept reminding myself to be fast yet relaxed. Among the workout earlier, I guess the most taxing part was when I need to tap fast for five seconds, and then burst off. I didn’t know after the tapping, I would felt exhausted. The sprint part was somewhat half-hearted effort, but I try lah. As for the weather, it held nicely today. It didn’t showered, but sunny throughout with cloud covers which gave me the needed respite. And oh yah, always wear sunblock! I in-fact applied it twice today during training.
