![]() Disclaimer: By doing my workouts and blogging it online here, I’m not seeking attention, nor am I an exhibitionist. I’m the type that follow-through my training much better if I put it in writing. I workout because I can and I love doing so. So do not try to emulate my training program, I bear no responsibility if you do so. I’m no role-model, not your papa, mama, or someone you can look-up to, nor am I’m a national athlete, I’m just a nobody. So just leave me be. Today I woke up from my nap one hour later than usual it seems. I would like to think it is my mind telling my body to rest more to aid in my recovery, but partly I believe I was hesitating today’s training, haha. Yup it’s 10x400m training, and that means pain, at each successive round with no rest, and the workout just keeps on going. But the long nap did serve its purpose, the strain on my right butt-cheek and left lower leg around the flexor hallucis longus is less tender, and my neck strain is totally gone. Well time waits for no man, and I’ve to face the pain; better now than later, as procrastination is just a mean to prolong the inevitable.
My training location as usual for now temporarily is Republic Polytechnic stadium. Those interested to train here, the public can use the facilities between 8am to 4pm. Beyond that, it’s for the use of students. And since I woke up late today, I arrived at the place around 5pm. I think it’s alright still for the public to make use of the place as long you don’t create a commotion and keep to yourself, which I did. I found a spot at one corner of the track, away from the students who were using the field, and those using the main exercising area. Also take note that the stadium one lap is not equivalent to 400 meters, but actually around 360 meters. So if you want to run a complete Olympic standard 400m distance here, you’ve to add another 40 meters from where you start. Workout of the Day
As for my training today, compared to previous similar training, the weather then was freaking hot, and my timing average was around 1:21 minute per lap. And for today the average timing was 1:18 minute per lap, and it’s supposed to be my easy week! I would like to think today’s weather which was cooler and has cloud cover is the reason behind my sublime improvement, but being a guy, I reckon the plenty of gals training at the same training location as me, kinda spurs me on. I know, I know, they’re like a decade younger than me, but hey, there’s no harm in ogling at sporty chicks right. There has been studies done that proves such ogling has health benefits, haha yes, I’m trying to justify my ogling here. But of course when it’s time to run, you have to be totally focus on the training at hand. Be conscious of your form, run like you mean it, and never ever give up. Doing 10x400m, the first five sets might seem easy, being ‘fresh’, but it’s always the hardest compared to the second half of the workout.
Once you’ve reached the sixth set, at times I just lose track of how many laps to go, if not for my training notepad, as your body gets into this rhythm of running ya know. Kinda like being in the zone, and you just would like to keep on going. The thing about doing circuit is that, such constant resistance lap after lap, or set after set, can be a bore, but always bear in mind of the training goal, and your purpose in working out. Since my lower left leg is still tender after the workout, I opted to walk back, rather than the usual jog, saving my foot from any hard impact. I then went to the nearby mall, to stock up on my bananas and soy drink. It’s always good to bring these essential when you train; public transport EZ-Link card, and at least $5. I never leave home without them when I’m out training. Today I took the bus home, rather than the usual jog back to my place. And oh yah, another essential I might want to bring along the next time round, is a t-shirt perhaps, as I stink after my workout man!
