When this supplement was delivered to my home, the first thing that came into my mind was the cool storage. Macam some container for storing cool stuff. At 10 lbs it’s heavier than my dumbell, I can even use it for my home weights session, haha
But aside from the looks, well the makers promised this whey protein is used by elite athletes. I was looking for proteins mainly used by athletes and not bodybuilders. Well you could say building muscle is more or less the same for both sprinters and bodybuilders, as it’s still muscle that we want
But I want something that’s highly recommended by sprinters and runners themselves. Well I did my research online and a forum recommended this “CytoSport Complete Whey”. I’m still trying it out, we’ll see if it’s compatible in a few months

Well this is me posing ‘gayly’ with the whey protein. Looks like I’m carrying some baggage eh. Yes it’s that large and heavy. It should last me for around under three months hopefully
At a cost of $155, that’s $15 per pound, sound reasonable. Of course I could get it $30-40 cheaper in the states, but that’s America, land of the muscles
Here in Singapore, I got to pay what the local supplement warehouse set the prices at. I’ve no choice. No GNC or Nature’s Farm for me, their prices are ridiculous and they carry only supplements that only noobs would buy

One thing I find great about CytoSport Complete Whey so far is that the mixability for this protein is incredible. Just drop some powder into the water and it mixes instantly
No shaking is required even. Well it sure live up to the promise as mentioned in the website “most complete, most digestible, easiest mixing”
It’s too bad they don’t have “chocolate mint” flavor as I read on the forums, it taste great! I ordered “Vanilla Bean” and the taste is far better than most vanilla whey I’ve tried before. Well another pointer earned in the tasting department for this whey

But of course, there’s a downside. A scoop would only provide me with 16 grams of protein whereas most whey protein supplements out there serve more than 20 grams at most
Maybe the ratio of lower protein level is needed to make up for the great taste? Well I don’t know, but I wish there’s was more protein concentration of course
The cholesterol and fat level is also higher in this whey protein, and I’m beginning to question my purchase but I decide to put it to the test these few months if my weight and bodyfat fluctuates after this supplementation

What is commonly seen these days in whey protein are amino acids, specifically branched chain amino acids or BCAA which help repair and rebuild muscles after a workout or competitive event
The amount seen here is pretty normal found on other whey protein supplements and I’m not worried on this issue
Although “CytoSport Complete Whey” is all whey Concentrate and contains no isolates, where isolates are much refined and more desired by muscle builders, it doesn’t really matter as long as it gets the job done. Well for me that is

To recap, using this supplement basically means 1 scoop = 45 mg of cholesterol and 16 g of protein in that amount. And I need around 1.2x of my bodyweight of protein daily.
So that makes I need 79.2 grams of protein daily. So far my daily protein intake is around
- 2 eggs = 7.2 grams
- 1 scoop = 16 grams (Before training)
- 1 scoop = 16 grams (After training)
- 2 cups of milk = 16 grams
- Yoghurt = 8 grams
- Chicken thigh = 10 grams
- Total is 89 grams of protein consumed daily
Thus my protein intake daily is more than enough and this CytoSport Complete Whey helps me to reach that ideal protein intake. Though the numbers are fine, at the end of the day, I do hope this protein will work well for my body.
You just never know, some products just don’t works well on some people. I’ll blog again in a few months on my progress using this whey protein
So how about you, what kind of whey protein supplements do you take?
